Machinery and Equipment

All the major farm implement and equipment companies operating in Brazil have dealerships in Western Bahia.

US companies such as as John Deere, Case-IH and others are represented, as are other multinational, European and Brazilian names. While most of the implements and equipment sold are manufactured or assembled in Brazil, a few machines such as late-model cotton pickers are imported from the US.

Large North American, Australian and Southern African grain farmers feel completely at home with the farm machinery, equipment and dealer services of Western Bahia. In general, the farm machinery is often identical to machines used in the North America. For example, two of the most popular center pivot irrigation systems are identical to those sold in the US. Perhaps the biggest difference is that the operating instructions are sometimes in Portuguese rather than in English.

Most farm equipment sold in Western Bahia is sold on credit locally administered by the machinery companies. Current interest rates are +/-10 percent, with 10 percent down and repayment over 4 or 5 years. Financing is typically in the Brazilian currency, the Real, but when machines are imported financing is in US dollars.

Prices of farm machinery and equipment delivered and sold in Western Bahia tend to be about the same as US prices, depending on the exchange rate. Examples of some equipment sold in recent years in Western Bahia are shown below. We do not show price data or necessarily the most recent models as prices vary with the exchange rate and new model introductions are frequent.
