Infrastructure
The public and private infrastructure supporting agriculture in
Western Bahia are excellent. Barreiras, a town of about 130,000,
and Luis Eduardo Magalhães (formerly Mimoso), a town of about
50,000 located 90 km west of Barreiras, are the area's principal
commercial centers. The towns have good schools, banks, hospitals
and clinics, shops, restaurants, hotels, machinery, fertilizer and
chemical dealers, and TV and radio stations.
